To start of this looks, well not like the concept. The FT/GT-86 is what you get when Toyota and Subaru get together, of course the Subaru one is more Die hard then the Toyota seeing that the Toyota is a Toyota... The Toyota one also has a North American Scion brother. All three cars will share the same platform and mechanical hardware including the Subaru-sourced flat-four, with only minor styling differences between them.
The new FT/GT-86 comes with Subaru's 2 Liter Four Cylinder boxer engine with Toyota's new D-4S direct injection. The engine makes a small 197BHP and 151.2lb-ft. So over, it's not very fast but it can move when you put the pedal down. moving on the car rides on 17inch wheels but with the JDM model it rides on 18 inch wheels. I can already see mod company's changing that...
On the Interior the dash-board get's a carbon-effect trim, all black roof lining, red stitching on the upholstery, aviation style rocker switches, and lightweight aluminium pedals.
Toyota has also stated that the car has an almost perfect 53:47 weight distribution. It also has a very low center of gravity, just 475mm. The GT-86 is also equipped with switchable vehicle stability control systems, which Toyota also claims "have been tuned specifically to deliver dynamic stability at the limit of the car’s performance with minimal electronic intervention to help preserve the purity of the driving experience".
* opinionated paragraph*
Over all i don't like this car much. Compared to the Subaru BRZ concept it's just to layed back for me. I'd perfer all the crazy Wings and rims of the BRZ over the bland and nothingness of the FT/GT-86. It's also a bit slow and under-powered for my liking.To sum up this car up, it's Toyota failing at trying to be cool.
